Solo performance presented at FITEI Festival Porto – Portugal 2015
Inspired by the book by French philosopher François Julien, my residency at the FITEI festival resulted in a performative installation. It is born in the intersection of the various materials that integrate my personal archive: hours of miniDV footage, still photos taken with disposable cameras, journal entries, letters, short notes and theoretical essays. By revisiting my own history (is it really my own?), through fragments collected in different media, my goal is to identify the transformations that supposedly would be silent; to rebel against silence, to take it over; to rewrite the past building a new memory to myself. The performance was created in the intersection and unfolding of these elements: a still image turns into a letter; the letter is connected to a fragment of miniDV footage; this video fragment evokes a philosophical quests that unfolds into a dance movement.
